Privacy Policy

Your details belong to the workshop you deal with. The workshop decides what is collected and why. Meckly runs the software that holds it for them, and does not sell it or use it to advertise to you.

What is held

You — your name, phone number, email address, and a postal address where the workshop has taken one.
Your vehicles — make, model, year, colour, registration, VIN, odometer readings, and photos of the car where the workshop has taken them.
Your jobs — quotes, approvals, invoices, payments, service history and logbook entries.
Signing in — the codes sent to your phone or email, and the times you signed in.
Notifications — if you turn on alerts on your phone, the anonymous token your browser gives us to send them to.

Why

To do the job you asked for, and to keep the records that go with it: quote you, tell you when the car is ready, invoice you, take payment, and hold the service history the next mechanic — or the next owner — will need.

Some of it the workshop is required to keep. A tax invoice is a record the ATO expects to exist, and a logbook entry is the thing that protects your new-car warranty.

Who else sees it

Payments — Stripe, when you pay by card. They handle the card details; the workshop and Meckly never see the full number.
Messages — the services that deliver our email and SMS, so a quote or a reminder can reach you.
Hosting — Cloudflare, who run the servers and the database this is stored on.
Parts suppliers — when the workshop orders a part for your car, the supplier is told the vehicle (make, model, rego, VIN) so the right part is sent. Your name and contact details are not.

Nobody buys this data from us, and it is not used to target advertising.

Where it lives

On Cloudflare's network, which stores and serves data from locations around the world. Each workshop's records are held separately from every other workshop's.

How long

For as long as you are a customer of the workshop, and afterwards for as long as the workshop is required to keep the records — for tax records that is generally five years. Photos and notes that serve no record-keeping purpose can be removed sooner on request.

What you can ask for

A copy of what is held about you.
A correction, if something is wrong — a misspelled name, the wrong rego.
Deletion of anything the workshop is not required to keep.
To stop receiving reminders, or to turn phone alerts off, without losing access to your quotes and invoices.

Ask the workshop — their number and address are on every quote and invoice. They hold the records and they answer these requests.

Keeping it safe

Signing in needs a code sent to your own phone or mailbox, so there is no password to be stolen or reused. Traffic to and from this portal is encrypted. Each workshop's data is separated at the database level, not just in the screens.

Children

This portal is for the person the vehicle is booked under. It is not intended for children.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it and you will be told the next time you sign in.

Complaints

Raise it with the workshop first. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
